Alphawest Partners with PolicyPoint

Nov 28, 2005: Do you keep making rules that no one reads, let alone follows? To combat this issue, Alphawest has announced that it has entered into a new partnership with internet-based information management service provider PolicyPoint.

Alphawest intends to use PolicyPoint to augment its existing enterprise information management system, and provide its customers with better compliance capabilities.

PolicyPoint is a service that allows business to tests employee understanding of important internal company processes. These include information management, policies for compliance, internet use, privacy and sexual harassment.

This gives organisations the ability to identify and address risk and manage all their policies in a consistent way. PolicyPoint integrates with existing IM, HR and email systems and alerts individuals about the information they must know. It directs them to internal learning resources, reminds them when testing is due, conducts formal testing on-line, updates their histories and resets their testing schedules.

You can lead the proverbial horse to water, but to ensure that policies are being followed PolicyPoint has included checklists. This ensures that company policies are not only understood, but also acted upon.

“Compliance continues to grow as a management issue and an enabler or inhibitor of growth in all enterprises, and across all business sectors,” said Scott Eade, Technical Director of PolicyPoint. “As legislation continues to escalate, it is no longer enough to create and communicate a policy for employees – you must also know, and be able to prove, that they have read and understood it. This is making knowledge mandatory rather than optional, and is precisely what PolicyPoint does”.

“The service is web-based and uses corporate Internet, intranet and e-mail systems. It automates scheduling and testing of employees’ understanding of compliance and other policies, enforcing the process across whole enterprises – independently and in multiple cycles.” added Eade.
