Sun interweaves bright new vision with Interwoven

Jul 22, 2005: Governments, enterprises and service providers are being targeted by Sun Microsystems, which has agreed to resell Interwoven's enterprise content management solution combined with its own products.

Sun will merge its Sun Java Enterprise System software, Sun Fire enterprise servers and Sun StorEdge products with the Interwoven solution to serve the needs of customers looking assistance with enterprise content and records management; secure storage and archiving; identity management and business process compliance.

Chris Wood, the CTO of data management practice at Sun Microsystems, said that Sun and Interwoven already share a strong customer base and Sun looks forward to servicing these customers better.

"Working with Interwoven enables Sun to offer an end-to-end solution which includes the data management aspects as well as the provisioning and delivery of content services through integration with identity management storage solutions optimised for cost effective long term records retention and portal services."

Steve Pattison, the vice president of strategic alliances at Interwoven, added that the new partnership would provide customers exactly with what they are looking for.

"Our reseller agreement with Sun is further extension of our successful technology partnership, and shared commitment to providing customers with complete easy-to-deploy solutions that will enable them to truly maximise the value of their enterprise content throughout every stage."

The shared technology will also use the Java Enterprise Edition and Service-Oriented Architecture.
