Exabyte moves to top of the Apple tree

Dec 16, 2004: Exabyte has signed a new global sales and distribution agreement with Apple Computer that expands the availability of Exabyte tape backup storage across Apple's global sales and channel network. Through this agreement, Apple's international sales and distribution network will market Exabyte's products worldwide as the recommended brand of tape storage solutions for Apple customers.

"Exabyte has a long-standing commitment to serving the data-intensive storage needs of Apple users by offering powerful, plug-and-play tape storage solutions that feature FireWire and Fibre Channel connectivity," said Tom Ward, president and CEO of Exabyte. "That commitment has been the driving force behind our ongoing collaboration with Apple and the Xserve community to design storage products with the specifications and software compatibility that meet their needs."

Exabyte's tape storage solutions for Apple users include standalone tape drives featuring FireWire as well as tape libraries with native Fibre Channel connectivity, particularly targeted at those users looking for a tape storage solution to complement the Apple Xserve.

"This global sales and distribution agreement with Apple is a natural next step and further validates Exabyte's commitment to the Apple market," added Ward. "This agreement not only affirms that Exabyte tape storage products are the first choice for Apple users, but it also broadens the availability of Exabyte products throughout Apple's global network. This is particularly exciting because of its international reach in emerging markets in India and Asia where the Apple community is growing rapidly."
