Oracle Launches Online Archive

April 16, 2008: Oracle has grown its enterprise content management offerings with a new online archive and email archival service, both components of its Fusion Middleware.

The company has released its Universal Online Archive, a service that provides a scalable archiving system combining Oracle’s Database infrastructure with its standards-based, hot-pluggable Fusion Middleware and a high-volume data ingestion engine. Oracle says this provides simplified archiving, management and rapid retrieval of multiple content types.

Next to the online archive, Oracle has also released its new E-mail Archive Service, which is optimised for Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotus Notes, and SMTP-based mail systems.

It says these two services will help enterprises lower storage and IT operational costs, improve e-mail performance and security, and reduce the cost and risk associated with e-discovery and litigation preparation.

“Oracle Universal Online Archive […] is a uniquely flexible archiving platform that helps lower IT costs, simplify the integration of security and records management policies into the archiving process, and improve end user access to current and archived information.” said Frank Radichel, vice president, Software Development, Oracle.
