FrontBridge plugs archiving gaps

Secure email and messaging software provider FrontBridge has broadened its service portfolio in email and instant messaging archiving for regulatory compliance, legal discovery and business continuity purposes through the acquisition of MessageRite.

The two privately owned companies had previously discussed the possibility of a merger, which did not eventuate. Now FrontBridge has returned to swallow up its rival, in a move that the company says will bolster its range of inbox management functions.

"MessageRite, with its comprehensive technologies for archiving and compliance, is the perfect addition to our technology roster, enabling us to offer end-to-end services for the entire messaging stream, from complete message filtering to archiving messages for complinace," said Steve Jillings, president and CEO of FrontBridge Technologies.

Helping organisations achieve regulatory compliance form a key component of what FrontBridge is all about, with its offerings solving issues around compliance with SEC 17a-4, NASD 3010 and Sarbanes Oxley. Through the acquisition of MessageRite, FrontBridge will now be able to offer corporations a complete outsourced system for message archiving, retrieval and email business continuity which it claims eliminates the need for additional infrastructure investment.

"FrontBridge has built an extensive infrastructure and distribution network for its managed messaging services," said Kevin Merritt, president, CEO and founder of MessageRite. "Message archiving is in high demand as companies are required by law to store and access electronic communications. It fits the managed service delivery model because of the expense required to build a solution on premise, making MessageRite and FrontBridge a winning combination."
