CSC Australia comes to nation's Defence

The Australian Department of Defence has introduced the first part of a $2.63 million improvement in administration across the Department - a project led by CSC Australia.

CSC Australia, together with secondary contractors Top Image Systems and IXOS, is implementing data imaging and optical character recognition (OCR) technology into the Department's corporate financial system.

The introduction of the system will put an end to the current paper-based system and will improve the efficiency of accounts payable processing within the Department.

Fran Bailey, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Defence, outlined the need for the introduction of the new system and the benefits it would bring.

"Defence processes in excess of 600,000 invoices annually. This solution will reduce processing times, achieve cost savings as a result of increased efficiency, and improve business processes, data integrity and the on-time delivery of payment to suppliers."

The new technology will be rolled out across the Department of Defence over the next 18 months.
