Deacons Chooses Legal Solution

Deacons law firm has chosen Solution 6 Holdings to provide a business intelligence tool to assist the firm’s technology integration strategy.

Solution 6 said Deacons would implement its business intelligence software CMS Open in the firm’s offices throughout the country, to be used by more than 1000 managers, lawyers and support staff.

Deacons will implement CMS Open software tools for time-keeping, billing, matter management, reporting and practice financials, the software vendor claimed. Solution 6 said Deacon expects CMS Open to deliver performance analysis from a single national database in real time and provide distributed access to information via the Internet.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Solution 6 claimed that Deacons chose CMS Open following an evaluation of other solutions and suppliers such as Elite.

In a statement, Michael Arnett, acting chief executive partner at Deacons said: “CMS Open will deliver full financial integration on a national level. The implementation is the final process change required in the national integration of Deacons. We began the legal integration in February 2000 and have been bringing the firm together in all other aspects since then.”

Tim Shacklock, national finance director at Deacons, added: “CMS Open delivers business intelligence to people in real time. We can give the appropriate people electronic access to information and reports at the business unit, client and matter level from a single, centralised point. CMS Open cuts out the need to develop and distribute reports on paper, and it delivers continuous analysis so we can be across everything as it happens”.

Shacklock went on say that the CiO Internet solutions that are part of Solution 6’s CMS Open software will provide “distributed access to information that’s located at a single point”.“They open up the database and provide access from anywhere, supporting more mobile and distributed working,” he said.

Neil Gamble, Solution 6 chief executive said Deacons’ choice was indicative of Solution 6’s specialized offering for law firms.

“Solution 6 provides solutions for legal firms of all sizes,” he said. “Solution 6’s domain expertise in legal firms is also important. We specialise in this area, and so can provide the experience, processes and consulting skills required to make the software a success. 14 of the top 20 law firms in Australia now use Solution 6 software and services, and we are delighted that Deacons has joined this group.”
