It was with the deepest regret and sorrow we announced that Alicia Camphuisen had passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on July 20, 2002, aged 25. The editor of Image & Data Manager magazine, Alicia was an exceptional young journalist who edited the publication with flair and professionalism. Her colleagues knew her as the most warm and talented person one could ever hope to work with. The team at IDM would like to thank Alicia's friends and colleagues from the technology and media industries for their words and gestures of support. In this issue, we pay tribute to this exceptional young woman.

Biography

Alicia Kate Camphuisen was born in Brisbane on June 2, 1997, the first child of Veronica and Joe Camphuisen. For the first few years of her life she lived in Brisbane where she commenced her schooling. The family then moved to Sydney and Alicia continued her schooling at Gelnbrook Public School. She was a diligent student who excelled in her secondary education in Penrith High School.

Alicia also studied at Macquarie University and the University of Western Sydney. She completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Studies with a Double Major in Journalism, Film Studies and Public Relations, graduating in April 1998 with a high credit average and honours offer.

As well as her formal academic studies, Alicia completed 14 years of speech and drama training, reaching Grade 7 of the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB).

Prior to her fulltime employment, Alicia wrote feature and review articles for a number of publications. In March 1998, she commenced work as a journalist with Knapp Communications.
