A knowledge management forum is to be held from September 1-2 at the Carlton Crest Hotel, Sydney.
The forum will feature experts and practitioners of knowledge management both in this country and internationally.
Presentation topics include the risk of knowledge loss in the face of increasing competition and skills shortage, knowledge as a competitive weapon, building and sustaining sources of innovation using knowledge assets and tools, techniques and technologies to leverage knowledge effectively across an organisation.
The international presentation will be given by Professor Dorothy Leonard, professor of Business Administration at the Harvard Business School.
A collection of real life experiences will be heard from Lend Lease, BHP Engineering, Carlton & United Breweries, Telstra Learning, Ernst & Young and Price Waterhouse.
Two workshops will also be held in conjunction with the two day KM forum at the Carlton Crest Hotel.
The first prior to the opening of the event will look at understanding knowledge management and will be headed by Rod Dilnutt, senior consultant with Ernst & Young.
It is designed to give delegates an understanding of the basics of knowledge management through role playing and solving real life problems in a fun but structured environment.
The second workshop being held on September 3, will investigate electronic document management. Workshop leaders are David Moldrich and Vanessa Harvey from Deloitte & Touche Consulting.
By attending this workshop participants will be able to develop an existing Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) into a tool for knowledge management.
