Lower priced desktop scanner from HP
Hewlett-Packard has introduced a new colour/greyscale desktop flatbed scanner designed to allow business and home-office workers to add colour photos, text and artwork to their business and personal communications.
The HP ScanJet 5p scanner features a push-button front panel that automatically launches the scanning process, making it simpler to capture images and text.
"The HP ScanJet 5p scanner offers functionality and versatility experienced scanner users require, while novice users can easily produce office-quality documents in minutes," said HP's market development manager for emerging products, Rob Hartnett. "HP continues to lead the scanner market by delivering HP quality, reliability and value at a price that just about any office can afford."
With plug-and-play compatibility with Windows 95, installation of the HP ScanJet 5p scanner is simplified.
The new scanner is designed to increase user productivity by providing a convenient way to convert photos, text and line art into electronic format. These images can then be inserted into documents; organised and stored using the electronic filing software that comes with a scanner. Images can also be distributed via fax or electronic mail, or read directly into the user's word processor.
The scanner ships with a CD-ROM containing an online tutorial and bundled scanning software, including HP PictureScan 3.0, which automatically scans images into documents.
It also includes HP ScanJet Copy Utility, which enables users to print convenience colour and greyscale copies of scanned documents using an inkjet or laser printer.
