November 19, 2008: An alliance between Mimosa Systems and NetApp is promising to simplify management of the messaging and archive environments.
The combination of Mimosa's NearPoint archiving appliance and NetApp storage solutions will allow for smaller storage footprints for email archives, improved archive recovery times, and reduced archive management costs.
Patrick Rogers, vice president of Solutions Marketing for NetApp, said, "Our joint solution enables IT managers to capture and retain all email, calendar, and file information, protect that information, recover it quickly, and store the information efficiently and cost-effectively while meeting or improving business service levels for information access, search, and eDiscovery.”
NetApp is providing NearPoint deployments with improved storage efficiency by means of its deduplication technology for single-instance storage of files, email, and email attachments. The ability to protect and automate the recovery of Exchange and the Mimosa NearPoint archive through SnapMirror and SnapManager has also been incorporated.
The integrated solution includes Continuous Application Shadowing, which captures Exchange log files the instant they are committed to disk without relying on SMTP, MAPI, or Microsoft Exchange Journaling to gather messages for archiving. It also offers eDiscovery capabilities and application-intelligent automated disaster recovery of Exchange.
