ExaGrid Adds ‘Instant’ Disaster Recovery
December 30, 2008: Along with several other improvements, ExaGrid has added what it is calling ‘instant’ disaster recovery functionality to its disk-based backup system, saying it can now provide higher performance connectivity options, expanded data handling and automated system health reports.
ExaGrid’s Disk-based Backup System features data deduplication alongside the industry-first instant DR functionality. The company says that this coupled with greater flexibility in handling disparate backup data types significantly improve the way backups are managed.
It adds that the solution delivers backup data more rapidly for DR purposes and provides proactive system health reporting.
“We speak with IT professionals every day who struggle with tape backup and are eager to move to disk backup with deduplication,” says Lauren Whitehouse, analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group. "ExaGrid’s Disk-based Backup System has the ingredients many organisations need to address their backup issues, [as it provides] focus on increasing performance, expanding DR capabilities, a growing list of supported data types, and automated email-based reporting that reduces the system management burden.”
