Iron Mountain Expands Online Backup
January 6, 2009: Iron Mountain Digital has expanded its Storage as a Service (STaaS) backup solution, adding support for Mac OS X.
Announced at the 2009 Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco, the company says its Connected Backup solution provides businesses of all sizes with the ability to protect vital corporate data, regardless of platform, via its online data recovery service.
Iron Mountain says that the solution will provide Mac users with the same features available to their PC counterparts, including fast, automatic and secure backup and restoration both inside and beyond company firewalls.
The company says that Connected enables IT departments to centrally manage distributed data backup from Mac or PC laptops outside of the office, with both being able to retrieve lost or damaged files without help desk support anytime and anywhere.
Iron Mountain also claims that the solution’s patented data reduction technologies reduce storage needs by up to 85 percent.
The solution will be available for Macs in March 2009.
