Sherpa Enhances Email Management

January 21, 2009: eDiscovery and archiving software developer Sherpa Software has announced a new email management solution for Lotus Notes that it claims will help businesses enforce corporate data policies and meet intensifying regulatory requirements.

Called Compliance Attender, Sherpa says that the software is a flexible server-based solution that intercepts, archives and filters inbound and outbound email as well as internal messages in real time.

Once captured, messages are then automatically mapped against administrator-defined policies and restrictions to prevent the transfer of sensitive data before it occurs, and to provide companies a tamper-proof and comprehensive record of all email communications.

Sherpa says that at Compliance Attender’s core lies its Real Time Engine technology, which catches messages at the operating system level before they get to the Domino router. From here all email is archived into a series of managed repositories, with administrators able to restrict email based on content, group membership, recipient count, total message size and more.

The company adds that by parsing messages before they reach Domino, Compliance Attender enables companies to avoid performance lags resulting from the router's involvement in Lotus Notes' mailbox journaling.
