Kofax upfront with Document Exchange Server Software 2.0

March 6, 2009:

Kofax has announced a new release of Document Exchange Server, designed to simplify and accelerate document-driven business process automation by extending back-office capture to front-office environments.

Kofax Document Exchange Server 2.0 enables an organisation's customer-facing employees to capture documents in the front office, where they originate, via multi-function peripherals (MFPs), desktop scanners and fax machines.

The new version adds user interface enhancements that streamline functionality and improve accuracy as documents are processed as well as support for multiple languages. Administration improvements include support forLDAP and Active Directory to ease configuration and improve security. For organisations that utilize WebLogic application servers and Oracle 10g database software, the release offers greater availability and scalability.

Along with these enhancements, the new software offers the ability to use TWAIN-based document scanners and includes a Web Services SDK to facilitate customised connections from other input sources.

“Kofax Document Exchange Server empowers front-office staff to easily initiate document-driven processes at a desktop scanner orMFP ,” said Jim Nicol, Executive Vice President of Products at Kofax. “This results in better, faster, less costly and more accurate document processing and allows employees to focus more time on vital customer-facing activities.”

Ideal for large organisations in document-intensive industries such as financial services, insurance, government and healthcare, Kofax Document Exchange Server is already being deployed at a number of customer sites. These include, for example, Dexia Insurance, one of the top five insurers in Belgium, which has implemented the software to automate the processing of insurance documents originating at more than 325 different branch locations.

“Dexia is successfully leveraging Document Exchange Server technology as part of its overall capture platform to better serve customers and gain competitive advantage,” Nicol said. “The company is a perfect example of how the solution works well for transaction-intensive businesses with complex distributed environments.”
