Capture Pro 2.5 builds business workflow

Kodak is introducing new capabilities for managing scanned documents and digital files in its Capture Pro Software.

Due out in April 2010, Version 2.5 offers new functionality for digitising paper-based tasks, including accounts receivable, claims processing and backfile conversions.

It includes an enhanced capability to automatically start a specific process when output processing has been finalised, allowing the integration into customised workflows. This provides a wider range of options to develop powerful, front-end auditing, validation and other business processes.

New capabilities add versatility for importing files with auto import for existing PDF files, preservation of imported file names for indexing, and enhanced automatic document separation logic.

A new Kodak Capture Pro Software Auto Import Edition creates a dedicated capture platform for environments without an attached scanner, performing the same image processing as Capture Pro Software for document scanners.

Auto Import Edition provides a solution for unattended monitoring and importing of document images and information into business applications, utilising features from Capture Pro Software to organize images and files from multiple, shared locations. These imaging capabilities allow users to index, import and output content and data from various locations.

Indexing and output functions can import structured and unstructured data, regardless of the image’s original source, including fax, e-mail, multi-function peripherals (MFPs), image repositories, specialized scanners and other devices.

“Reducing manual data entry and increasing data integrity are key drivers behind a series of new improvements,” said Tim Mortenson, director, Solutions Software, Document Imaging, Kodak’s Business Solutions and Services Group.

“Our customers have very specific needs for document capture software, such as establishing an audit trail. Expanded image stamping functionality gives businesses full control over variable and fixed data, which can be digitally embedded as part of the physical image, for example, to display document metadata that may not be present on each page of the original.”

A new indexing application program interface (API) offers custom data validation. In addition to existing capabilities for automatic indexing, users also can use the last entered value for manual indexing. Enhanced optical character recognition (OCR) includes customisable dictionaries, output as text, and multiple language selection for OCR output.

“Customers increasingly need capture applications that can automate those end-to-end business processes impacted by paper-based documents,” Mortenson said.

“Capture Pro Software enables users to take full advantage of some of the best document imaging technology available. Businesses can invest in this application to help initiate critical business processes, meet compliance demands, and provide their workforce with rapid access to digitized information.”
