Azaleos Service keeps SharePoint 2010 on song

Azaleos Corporation has announced the newest version of its remotely managed service for SharePoint Server, Azaleos Managed SharePoint 2010 Services.

Azaleos has also introduced a new companion managed file transfer (MFT) service called AttachIT that reduces the bandwidth and storage burden associated with large Microsoft Exchange file attachments. AttachIT integrates with Microsoft Outlook and SharePoint.

The Azaleos SharePoint 2010 Service uses patented technology to remotely monitor thousands of data points for private cloud deployments of SharePoint 2010, as well as related storage and network infrastructure.

Azaleos has extended and customized the new SharePoint Health Analyzer for deeper monitoring and faster detection of potential configuration, performance and usage problems.

Using new PowerShell support available in SharePoint 2010, Azaleos technicians can more easily automate setup, deployment and ongoing management of services accounts.

The Azaleos ViewX monitoring system provides more comprehensive visualization of SharePoint services across global server farms by combining data from the new Centralized Services and enhanced Site Collection Reporting capabilities in SharePoint in 2010

“SharePoint 2010 is a powerful business tool for collaboration and enterprise content management (ECM) that increases in value when it is customized to support businesses processes,” said Scott Gode, vice president of marketing for Azaleos.

“However, in order to tap the power provided by SharePoint, organisations that are serious about using SharePoint as a mission critical ECM system must invest significant IT resources to manage its multiple moving parts and keep it operating smoothly. Azaleos eliminates this administrative burden, yet allows customers to customize SharePoint and control their data -- which are key advantages over multi-tenant cloud services.”

As IT services move to the cloud and resources are shared among millions of users, it is becoming increasingly important to control the amount of data end users can send using Microsoft Outlook. In fact, the delivery and storage of large e-mail attachments is already one of the leading problems facing IT administrators today.

To address this problem, Azaleos is introducing a MFT service called AttachIT. This companion service to Azaleos Managed Exchange Services integrates with Outlook and SharePoint to reduce network bandwidth consumption and storage requirements. The initial release of AttachIT will support the delivery of Exchange attachments on internal corporate networks only.

The AttachIT service revolves around a small Outlook plug-in on the client, a connection to SharePoint 2010 and a storage system of choice on the backend. TheAttachIT plug-in captures messages with attachments that exceed a pre-defined size threshold, and SharePoint assigns them a storage destination.

AttachIT is designed for organizations that do not require a monolithic enterprise-wide MFT application, but want an affordable solution that can be deployed using Exchange, SharePoint and their existing storage systems.

Managed SharePoint 2010 pricing starts at $US8 per user/month, and AttachIT pricing starts at $US4 per user/month.
