Handwriting recognition specialist A2iA has released new versions of  its software for  data extraction and document classification.

A2iA DocumentReader 4.0 includes automatic detection of check boxes associated with a pre-defined set of labels, such as those fields on a laboratory requisition form.

It also promises improved transcription and keyword spotting for letters, including the header, address, and body text.

It also adds French phone number extraction on printed and handwritten pages.
