Nuix tackles email archive migration
Australian Ediscovery specialist Nuix is looking to increasingly focus on applying its technology solution to the technical challenges of migrating data from legacy email archives.
“Tens of thousands of enterprises will upgrade their email archives and other information management systems to next-generation or cloud platforms in the next five years,” said Rocco Seyboth, Senior Vice President, Intelligent Migration at Nuix. “Their choice of migration technology will have a huge impact on the success or failure of their project.”
Traditional migration technologies rely on an archive’s internal indexes, which are often incomplete or corrupt, and extract data using the built-in application programming interface (API). This bottleneck extends migration timeframes to months or years for relatively small volumes of data.
Nuix’s Intelligent Migration technology uses multiple simultaneous connections to analyze and extract data directly from archive storage, bypassing the API. This approach makes the legacy data searchable before and during the migration and extracts the data up to 20 times faster than API-based technologies.
Intelligent Migration also helps organizations get smarter about the data they move or leave behind. The powerful visual analytics platform Nuix Luminate simplifies the process of identifying redundant, outdated and trivial data that does not need to be migrated. Organisations can also prioritize high-value files and emails such as business records and current legal holds so they can be migrated first.
“Working exclusively through partners such as Proofpoint, Mimecast, Bishop Technologies and the Microsoft Office 365 partner community we have a rapidly growing portfolio of migration projects underway, with data volumes ranging from single-digit terabytes to more than 100,” said Seyboth.
Nuix partners are currently using Intelligent Migration technology to extract data from Symantec Enterprise Vault, EMC EmailXtender, EMC Centera, HP Autonomy EAS and others, and migrate it to platforms including Microsoft Office 365, EMC SourceOne, CommVault, Mimecast and Proofpoint.
