FairField Council Improves Asset Management

April 3rd, 2006: Sydney’s Fairfield City Council has selected an SPL Worldgroup Enterprise Asset and Work Management solution to manage its infrastructure assets.

Covering twenty-seven suburbs, Fairfield is one of Sydney’s largest government areas. With 104 square kilometres and 182,000 residents, it has a lot of publicly owned and natural assets to keep track of.

SPL Worldgroup says its’ Enterprise Asset and Work Management software will give the Council a comprehensive picture of what assets it owns, their locations and condition, streamlining management and increasing financial performance.

According to SPL, it captures variable information such as cost, maintenance and depreciation, and helps users visualise trends and make strategic decisions to streamline maintenance, improve safety and enhance compliance.

“Fairfield City Council manages everything from roads, buildings and vehicles to playgrounds, reserves and creeks,” says Nick Lalich, Mayor of Fairfield. “Putting advanced asset management practices in place will allow us to better allocate ratepayers’ funds, make more informed decisions and improve the lifespan of our infrastructure.

“Once fully operational, SPL’s Enterprise Asset and Work Management system will greatly assist us to look after our City's built and natural assets, now and into the future,” he added.

Fairfield City Council is the first big win in the government sector for SPL.
