Speedscan and Data Impact Merge
April 19th, 2006: Australia’s Speedscan and U.S.-based Data Impact have announced that they have merged to create a new, global document management solutions group.
The merger will see Speedscan’s document archival products and outsourced document services offered in the U.S. alongside Data Impact’s print stream processing, document scanning, and film conversion services.
“Customers clearly prefer a single provider of outsourced business processes,” says Data Impact CEO Bill Plant-Mason. “We can now offer, on an international basis, a complete suite of document management services, including digitising and indexing of high volumes of paper documents, conversion of microfilm and fiche to digital documents, integration and management of complex electronic print streams and a unique 'click to pay' electronic remittance system.”
“It's more solutions in one place,” says Speedscan CEO Mark Josman. “Customers will benefit from our global solutions that combine onsite technologies and outsourced solutions.”
The merger is a strategic move by Data Impact to stay ahead of the competition. Last year Data Impact acquired a regional film scanning specialist, the Florida-based Leahy Corporation. The merger with Speedscan will no doubt bolster both companies offerings in the marketplace.
"Our strategy," says Data Impact Chairman Charles Koehler, "is to keep adding geographically and product-wise to our comprehensive suite of services, providing the document imaging and management answers our clients want and need in order to stay ahead of their competitors. This merger with Speedscan is a very important step toward that goal."
The new company will keep Data Impact’s name in the U.S. while it will be known as Speedscan for the rest of the world.
