AMD Licences Rambus Technology for US$75m

January 4, 2006: Rambus today confirmed AMD’s licensing of its current patents and future high-speed memory and logic controller interfaces.

The five-year license will see AMD incorporate Rambus DR2, DDR3, FB-DIMM, PCI Express and XDR designs into its technology, allowing faster communication between chips.

Details of the deal are sparse, however the agreement includes the possibility for renewal or extension and covers all chips except memory.
