Sony expands small ideas for bigger vision

Sep 12, 2005: As the need for higher capacity and faster transfer speeds in portable storage devices continues to rise, Sony is keen to keep up with the pace of demand by providing new flash storage inventions that can contain up to 4GB of memory.

The 2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo and 4GB Memory Stick Pro have been released by Sony to allowed more data to be stored and carried around without creating a weight burden to the users.

Matthew Luu, the product manager of RME, at Sony Australia, said that while it has been well documented that Australian customers are seeking higher capacity flash media solutions, one area that is beginning to emerge as increasingly important it the move towards media that can easily handle faster speeds.

"Memory Stick PRO media is the most widely purchased Memory Stick media in Australia. The 256MB Memory Stick PRO has surpassed its 128MB equivalent as Sony's single most popular offering."

Sony added that the 2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo (high speed, small form factor) and 4GB Memory Stick PRO (high speed, regular form factor) support faster read and write speeds of up to 80Mbps for swift copying of files to and from computers, making it a valuable data storage tool for business applications.
