SAN data protected over long distance

NeoScale Systems has unveiled a new system that can protect information as it passes from one place to another via long distances over storage area networks through the use of encryption technology.

Its CryptoStor SAN VPN device can encrypt data as it travels, and in addition to using wire-speed encryption, it aims to offer centralised policy management, storage firewall access control, and fabric transparent operation for strong storage transport and media privacy.

New changes in financial, healthcare and commerce legislation has created liabilities for companies that fail to ensure data privacy at all storage levels.

NeoScale hopes that the application of policy-based access and encryption to storage data during transport, on the storage subsystem and media will allow companies to provide a strong barrier against unauthorised storage data disclosure, theft and corruption.

Up until now, complexity, performance issues, poor manageability and high costs have hindered storage data protection.

NeoScale believes that it has overcome all of these obstacles. One of the key features included with this system is its support for leading, security, storage and network management standards, applications and frameworks.
