Objective to control tide at Brisbane port
The Queensland's Port of Brisbane Corporation has selected Objective to calm down the tidal wave of documents it has been faced with managing recently due to increased trade growth over the years.
It manages Australia's third-largest capital city port and its principal role is to facilitate trade growth. 24 million tonnes are currently traded through the port every year and this is likely to double by 2025.
Jeff Coleman, the chief executive officer for the Corporation chose Objective's solution to improve the management and control of essential corporate knowledge, which needs to be kept secure and accessible.
Stringent recordkeeping legislation and standards, such as the Queensland Public Records Act (2002), Information Standards 18, 31, 40, 41 & 42 and ISO 15489 also forced the Corporation into taking on board this electronic records management package to help it cope with important compliance requirements.
Coleman said that he expected his staff to find the system very usable. "Objective has an easy to learn and easy to use interface, which we found familiar and intuitive. We expect this to have a major influence on systems uptake and acceptance by our staff, and this is considered to be a key factor in the overall success of this project.
"Objective will enable our people to have access to a powerful search and retrieval browser, along with the tools to assist them in managing electronic information and to contribute to corporate knowledge.
"We expect the Objective system to be in place by December 2004 and are very confident that it will facilitate the efficient management and necessary security of the Corporation's knowledge assets now and into the future."
he Corporation expects it improve key areas such as email document control, work flow and records management.
