Objective 98 reduces paper trail

Computechnics has released Objective 98, the latest version of its electronic document management system.

A new feature of Objective 98 is the Controlled Documents facility, which is said to speed the approval process for important organisational documents requiring a hierarchy of approvals before they can be officially changed and endorsed.

The Controlled Documents facility also ensures those affected by changes to the document are identified and automatically provided with an updated electronic version of the new document.

When a document is submitted for approval, the approvers are notified via email that they are required to review a new document. Alarms ensure approvals are processed within an approved time frame.

Electronic password protection records the electronic signature of the user, time and date of modifications to the document.

Objective 98's new Audit Trail facility enables users to access a full history of information across Objective's Enterprise modules including Objective Foundation, Objective Workflow and Objective Records.

This provides the user with a list of events they need to audit for, document management, workflow processes or records information.

Other new features include:

n Catalogue Data Versioning which enables users to maintain multiple versions of the catalogue data which profile information on documents - along with the document versions;

n Date Internalisation, which recognises any date format;

n Xlink Mail Gateway, which distributes documents stored in Objective to internal and external users via a MAPI and SMTP compliant mail systems;

n Xlink Document Export, which enables users to select documents or folders and have them copied to a selected destination drive;

n Xlink Far Gateway Server, which enables organisations to receive incoming faxes directly into Objective

n a new interface with Windows Explorer look and feel.
