Documentum's document management software, marketed locally by a division of Fuji Xerox Australia, XSoft, received top ranking from Ovum's recent competitive survey of document management software products.
In the 500-page report Ovum Evaluates Document Management, Documentum's Enterprise Document Management System 3.0 (EDMS) was ranked first in five out of the eight comparative categories, and second in two other categories.
EDMS 3.0 was evaluated against seven other competitive products: Interleaf's RDM 2.6; OpenText's LiveLink 4.0; Lotus Notes Release 4; Saros' (FileNet) Mezzanine 3.5; Novell's SoftSolution 4.1; PC DOCS' Docs Open 3; and Uniplex's onGo DMS 2.
Document EDMS is a family of integrated client/server products for building and deploying enterprise document management systems. It is designed to coordinate the availability of business-critical documents on a global basis, enabling companies to manage ongoing changes in information and processes.
The Documentum EDMS family is based on a three-tier document-relational architecture that delivers library services, workflow, virtual document management and document distribution. The core components of the EDMS solutions are the Document Server, the Documentum Workspace client environment, Documentum Application Developer's Toolkit, Accelera for document management on the Web, and LeafConnect, offering integrated services for Interleaf publishing. Documentum also supports Microsoft Windows NT.
