Government gets e-active

The 2001 deadline for electronic transactions between the public and the Federal Government and between government agencies is fast approaching, and organisations are beginning to look at how they can best manage records in this reality.

These transactions must be captured, managed, maintained and stored for business use, evidence and accountability, and as part of the corporate memory.

The Records Management Association of Australia's (RMAA) ACT branch seminar will look at the strategies that will help organisations handle this change.

Held from March 21-22 at the Australian Institute of Sport, 'e-Business transactions: providing accountability through effective recordkeeping' brings keynote speakers from Australia and New Zealand to discuss issues surrounding the capture and management of electronic records.

Presenters from government agencies such as the Australian Taxation Office, Office of the Government Online and the National Archives of Australia will explore issues such as transnational e-business transactions, capturing electronic evidence and legal obligations.
