Scribe Automates Medical Transcriptions

September 25, 2008: Scribe Healthcare Technologies has announced that it is now offering a version of its medical dictation, transcription and document management platform for free.

Called Scribe Lite, the software is targeted at independent transcriptionists, small transcription companies, and medical practices.

It enables users dictate voice files and receive transcribed reports in a secure online Inbox, and from there print, download, store, and search reports. The software also makes reports available online for physician access for the term of the relationship.

New users complete a nine step wizard that setups their branded site, up to five dictating users and up to three medical transcriptionists. Dictation is performed by a user supplied digital recorder and securely uploaded. Telephone dictation is also available.

“Until now the independent transcriptionist was ignored by our industry. The cost to purchase and use a transcription platform could consume the small profits generated by these organisations. Scribe Lite changes everything,” said Scribe Vice President John Weiss.

“Many […] smaller transcription companies still use a courier to transport tapes and reports. […] Scribe Lite can make an immediate impact by automating and greatly speeding file transfer.”

Scribe says that the program is wizard-driven for easy set up, and those using Scribe Lite can easily upgrade to Scribe's Complete platform if or when they are ready.
