Cincom Enhances Project Management

September 26, 2008: Australia’s Cincom will be debuting the latest enhancements to its program performance management software during the Queensland Manufacturing Exhibition in October, promising better control of program costs and improved quality management for manufacturers.

A module of its Enterprise Management solution, Cincom says the enhancements to its Program Management software provide the capability to record, track, and report both direct and indirect costs using a user-defined, date-effective, cost-burden structure against industry-compliant work breakdown structures.

“Project-oriented manufacturers often manage multiple programs at the same time, spanning multiple years and using common inventories,” writes Cincom in a statement. “Managing cost performance becomes a daunting and complex task that can have significant implications on profitability and even the company’s stock price.”

The company says the enhancements also feature earned-value management systems (EVMS) support, helping companies that have major incentives or penalties tied to their contract deadlines. EVMS is an objective management control process that is typically required by prime contractors that engage in large defence contracts to adhere to 32 EVMS guidelines.

To be in compliance, Cincom says that a comprehensive IT application system like its solution is required so contractors can provide reporting status on schedule performance, potential cost overruns, baseline budget comparisons with full audit trail support, and many other data-management and reporting tools that are essential for regulatory compliance.

The company will be showing off these enhancements to its platform and more at the 2008 Queensland Manufacturing Exhibition, which will be held from the 21st to the 23rd of October at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
