Symantec Launches Cloud Services

November 20 2008: Symantec has launched a new online services platform specifically targeted at cloud management, saying it can help organisations identify hidden risks in their data centres and improve service availability.

Called Veritas Operations Services, the new service will initially launch with two offerings: Veritas Installation Assessment and Veritas Storage Foundation Health Check.

Symantec says that the two provide an alternative to traditional reactive operations models, and enable organisations to perform prioritised, preventative maintenance using the latest known good configurations, best practices and data centre risks.

Overall, Symantec says that Veritas Operations Services proactively manages storage and server environments to deliver rapid time to value while helping organisations secure and manage their information.
