On patrol for Exchange
August 19, 2009:Red Earth Software has released a new version of its email filter software for Exchange Server that shows the disclaimer and signature in the Sent Items of Outlook without requiring any client software or allowing users to edit or remove the disclaimer before sending.
The company claims this is not even possible with the built-in disclaimer functionality in Exchange 2007 or Exchange 2010. Policy Patrol 6 further includes improved spam control and attachment filtering.
Seeing the disclaimers and signatures in the Sent Items provides the sender with the important proof that the disclaimer was added, ensures that the email archive contains the legally correct email, and allows the user to check the disclaimer and signature formatting. In addition to disclaimers and signatures, Policy Patrol 6 can update Sent Items with other email modifications such as added or stripped attachments, and modified subjects and headers.
Policy Patrol 6 also includes new and improved anti-spam features such as the option to block emails from certain countries using preconfigured blocks of IP addresses. Policy Patrol’s greylisting feature has now been made more accessible by no longer requiring a SQL Server (Express) database and providing a built-in database instead.
To avoid false positives, Policy Patrol 6 can now quickly populate white lists by importing recipient addresses from previously sent emails. Other new features include content checking of virtually any attachment type for words and phrases, the possibility to preview Active Directory merge fields in the disclaimer template and to add a vCard (Business card) to outgoing emails.
