Kodak Increases Focus on High-Volume Scanning

May 3, 2007: Kodak has bolstered its commitment to the high-volume scanning market, announcing version 6.10 of its Capture Software and introducing its fastest production scanner to date, the i1860.

Aimed at paper-intensive environments such as service bureaus, financial institutions and insurance companies who centrally process documents, Kodak says the new scanner further broadens its offerings in the high-end scanning market, capturing images at up to 160 pages a minute.

The company says it offers a range of ergonomic features including a height-adjustable base to save a user’s back regardless of whether they are sitting or standing, and with the i1840 Kodak has also included a colour touch-screen display to streamline control for operators.

“When you have a recognised winner, you expand on it,” says Richard Broden, EAMER Product Marketing Manager for Production Capture Document Imaging at Kodak. “Our end users told us they wanted to see more scanners like the i1860 with exceptional ergonomic capabilities to help them operate more efficiently, but at a lower price point. We listened and gave them its ‘kid brother’ - the KODAK i1840 Scanner.”

Along with the i1860, Kodak has also released the latest version of its Capture Software, adding MICR code support for processing and sorting of cheques and improved zonal OCR support for the removal of unwanted and embedded spaces from OCR engine results.

Both the i1860 and Capture Software 6.10 are available now, priced at $131,399 and $655 respectively.
