Tungle Offers P2P Scheduling

Tungle Offers P2P Scheduling

March 26, 2007: A new company is brining the world of peer-2-peer software to business workflow, offering an outlook meeting scheduling plugin that it says is far superior to current offerings.

The software integrates with calendar and scheduling software such as Microsoft Outlook 2003, and enables co-workers to organise meetings and other events based around availability. When a network of peers is created, one worker can view what blocks of time others on the network have free, and suggest meeting times accordingly. Tungle says this streamlines the whole process, and cuts down on email back and forth.

"Before a user sends a meeting request, our solution gives users a snapshot view of the times their friends, co-workers or business associates are free or busy. This makes it much easier to schedule meetings,” says Marc Gingras, chief executive officer at Tungle Corporation. “Because Tungle transcends a single corporation or computer system, people can schedule meetings with friends, colleagues or co-workers no matter where they are or what time management or groupware solution they use."

Tungle will be available for Microsoft Outlook 2003 at first, with support for other email suites expected down the track.

The software is a free plug in that is currently being distributed in a controlled beta. When launched, the software will also include advanced synchronisation options to seamlessly synchronise home and office calendars, Outlook-to-Outlook or Outlook to Google Calendar, while Tungle Suggest will provide automated meeting availability searches, by date and time of day and by polling the Free / Available calendars of one or multiple contacts.

Advanced synchronisation options are expected to be available when the product is officially launched and are expected to cost US$10 a year.
