Masterclass on Developing a Roadmap for 2015 Digitisation

Information management consultant Stephen Bounds is preparing a special full day Masterclass on "Developing a Roadmap for the 2015 Digitisation Target" to be held at the Melbourne Marriott Hotel on 21 February 2014.

All Australian federal agencies had until August 30 2013 to report to the National Archives of Australia (NAA) on their state of readiness under the Government Digital Transition policy, and then the NAA is due to deliver a report to the Minister in March 2014.

Many organisations are now in preparation to meet the 2015 target of capturing and managing all records electronically.

Stephen Bounds said, "Although this proposition may seem straightforward, today’s sheer volume of data and paper records makes this a mammoth task for any organisation.

"This interactive Masterclass will provide delegates with a practical and effective approach for achieving the digitisation target within your organisation. It will take into context the strain this sector is under and develop a workable plan to take back to the office."

"The Masterclass is a full-day event where I hope to give everyone a thought-provoking and highly interactive look at the challenges which face government agencies that are transitioning to a fully-digital recordkeeping and information management environment.

"It will also explore issues in regard to the metadata requirements that will be faced by Agencies transferring digital records to the NAA and how this impacts on tasks for EDRMS users."

Key topics for the day will be:

  1. Switching to an Abundance Paradigm
  2. Aligning Best Practices to Real-World Practices
  3. Successfully Completing the Transition to Digital and Embracing Continuous Improvement

Suggestions on further topics or scenarios of interest to government record-keepers looking at the proposed.2015 target of capturing and managing all records electronically are invited here or via Twitter.
