Objective Selected by Hobsons Bay

June 18, 2008: Objective Corporation has notched up another win, having been selected by the Hobsons Bay City Council to help enhance community services by providing a new electronic document and records management solution (EDRMS).

Responsible for managing the City of Hobsons Bay, around 10 kilometres west of central Melbourne and covering an area of approximately 66 square kilometres, the Council provides a wide-range of services and facilities to approximately 81,400 residents in the area.

With new legislative and security challenges looming, the Council decided it needed to update its old records management system and consolidate a large amount of information dispersed across several databases.

Objective will provide the Council an information repository that functions as a single point of access to existing and future corporate knowledge, information and records. It will be used enterprise-wide by approximately 370 users within the Council.

“One of the biggest benefits that Objective will provide is that it will be a repository for all electronic information and with the use of workflow and version control, it will improve collaboration on key business activities throughout the organisation,” says Helen Anstis, Director Business and Finance, Hobsons Bay City Council.

Anstis says the system will also be used for correspondence management, and will include collection and storage of all electronic and hard copy documentation associated with in-coming and out-going correspondence including emails, letters, faxes and Council reports.

Objective’s workflow and version control features will also improvements in collaboration within the Council, in the creation of Council Reports for example, which have to go through multiple stages of revision and approval before being submitted to the Council.

Objective says it will deliver transparency and accountability for the Council and will also ensure its’ compliance with the Victorian Public Records Act 1973 and other relevant legislation.
