IDC Divines Document Solution Growth

June 16th, 2006: Industry analysts IDC are tipping heavy growth in Asia Pacific’s document management solution market, estimating it to be worth U.S.$94.3 million in 2005 - a growth of almost 80% over 2004.

The estimation has been published in IDC’s inaugural report for its new Asia/Pacific Document Solutions Research Service, and although this estimation excludes Japan, IDC have also noted that the APEJ document solutions market is young and poised for sustained high growth from 2006 to 2010.

“Demand for document solutions will grow as businesses across the region strive to improve document-based workflow in a business environment that is still heavily dependent on paper,” says Edwin Han, Senior Research Manager for IDC's Asia/Pacific Document Solutions Research. “This, coupled with the manufacturers' active efforts to add differentiating value to their hardware, will be the key growth engines for document solutions.”

Key factors driving document management solutions for both small and large enterprises include regulatory compliance, improved records management and unending need for cost-cutting. The continual growth in the content management software market has also been cited as a driver for document management solutions.
