Prepay website preserving digital images

A Queensland company, specialising in digital printing, has channeled the popularity of the recent prepaid phenomenon like phone cards and Internet services into the creation a website to meet the market for the growing trend to digital photography.

The new digital printing concept has been introduced by Digital Photoworks (DPW). The innovative new web site (www.digitalprints.com.au) is the first prepaid online digital printing site to hit Australia.

According to the company, the site is an easy and inexpensive way for consumers to get real photos from their digital images, while removing the need to use credit cards for payment on the Internet.

Utilising proven technology, the site's Print Order Wizard provides the core function of the new service. Orders are accepted exclusively from Prepaid Cards sold by selected retailers across Australia, users upload their photos onto the website, and the photos are mailed Australia-wide or overseas.

Rob Tolmie, Managing Director of Digital Photoworks stated: "With digital camera sales exploding, Digital Photoworks is poised to deliver a world class online photo printing experience to the Australian market. Prepaid cards give our retail partners the opportunity to enjoy in-store, prepaid revenues while further providing their digital customers an easy to use service online," he said.

Tolmie says that many new owners of digital cameras fill up memory cards with images but don't know what to do next.

"I am concerned that too many precious memories are falling into a technical void as we make the transition from conventional to digital photography. Quite apart from the deleted photos that are lost forever, just how permanent are those that are stored on the home computer? Will they still be there in ten or twenty year's time? I doubt it very much," he warned.

"That's why I am very excited about this launch. Now there is a simple, low cost solution for consumers that I believe will encourage the market to take the next step - real photos. This will ensure our precious memories will be there in years to come, and not lost to the digital black hole."
