RMAA details year of change

By Stuart Finlayson

Ahead of its annual conference, to be held in Melbourne next week, the Records Management Association of Australasia (RMAA) has issued its Annual Report.

The last twelve months have included some notable changes for the Association, not least its name, with Australasia replacing Australia as a consequence of the admission of a New Zealand branch into the Association in November last year. The Branch was set up in Wellington, with an Auckland chapter having since opened as well.

The RMAA also made significant changes to its membership structure, in what RMAA president Chris Fripp described as a recognition on the part of the Board that the Association needed to move away from being seen as an industry association to instead by looked upon as a professional association. At the same time, the Association reviewed and adopted a new constitution.

The Association made a profit of $66,017 for the year ended June 30th, while at the same time reducing National Office expenditure by 47 percent to $60,000.

Fripp said in his address to members that the Association believes that "it is vital that all members, particularly professional members, remain current in the dynamic field of records management."
