Australians to Xplor Asia Pacific

Xplor, the international organisation for electronic document systems, has set out to discover the Asia Pacific market and build a presence. The market expedition will be lead by the Australia based Asia Pacific office.

"Since opening the Australian Chapter in 1986, the Asia Pacific regional conferences have alternated between Sydney and Melbourne. The opportunity now exists to continue growth by pro-actively conducting programs in South East Asia," said Russell Thurlow the Asia Pacific director. He said that the organisation will "decentralise" its traditional focus on Australia and New Zealand.

Kicking the process off will be the first regional conference to be held outside of Australia. The 2004 regional conference will be held in Singapore. Forums will also be held in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Taiwan and Japan. Singapore's conference will be presented in English, but further down the line Mr Thurlow expects to see their material translated to other languages.

"This is a chance for Australia to lead," he said of the local market.

"Our objective is to advance the EDS (electronic document systems) industry by sharing information and encouraging networking with the total region," he said. Xplor has over 300 members in the Asia Pacific region. "The vendor community has set its sights wider than Australia," he said, adding that he expects to see a strong contingent from local companies such as HPA and Security Mailing Services.
