IT behind bars

The inaugural meeting of the Brisbane branch of the Institute for Information Management has heard how intranet technology is helping the Queensland Department of Corrective Services keep a firmer grip on the state's jail inmates.

A presentation last November by Frank Peach, the Department's Director-General, detailed how the Department is developing its Information Management (IM) Strategic Plan, with the initial priorities being the Integrated Offender Management System, the Human Resources Information System and a strategic information architecture.

"We need to make sure the right information is with the right people at the right time so they can make the right decisions," said Mr Peach.
