Before

Work is routed over a LAN or WAN.

Work types are primarily documents or emails that have been captured or scanned.

Work is routed from person to person.

Future

Work is routed over the Internet, not requiring a dedicated connection or that associated cost.

Work types are predominantly messages received from systems (via middleware) that need to be routed to another system.

Work is routed between systems. Only exceptions will be handled by people.
