Google Docs Get Mobile

By Greg McNevin

October 24, 2007: Google has added more functionality to its Web 2.0 office applications again this week, announcing that it has now added the online office productivity suite to its mobile portal, enabling documents, spreadsheets and more to be viewed on mobile phones.

The applications can be used within mobile phone browsers, and could prove handy for those using Google Docs already who need to access a document while on the road.

According to theregister.co.uk, currently the service is read only, preventing any alterations being made while on the move, however, Google promises that editing functionality is on the way. Unlike Google Gears, there is also no way to use the software when not online.

The docs service joins Google’s growing list of mobile applications including Maps, Mail, Calendar, News, Photos and of course its ubiquitous Search.
