Business process applications to boom

A report by the Aberdeen Group states that the business process management software market will boom over the next three years and British company Staffware, a leading player in the Australian market, will head the pack.

The Worldwide Business Process Management Spending report from the Aberdeen Group has forecast that the business process management (BPM) market will grow by 29 per cent each year until 2005.

Staffware was ranked as one of the market leaders, whilst their rivals could face acquisitions as the Aberdeen Group has predicted that the market sector will enter a phase of consolidation, which the report states will benefit leaders such as Staffware.

Speaking about the report, Staffware chairman and CEO John O' Connell said he believes that focusing "exclusively" on BPM applications is a major advantage for Staffware and a "distinct differentiator".

"The Aberdeen Group has not only highlighted the huge potential of this market for leading vendors, but also the dangers buyers face in a fractured and immature sector," he said. In a statement, Staffware claimed that other suppliers in the market are "simply bolting BPM functionality onto their existing document management, EAI or messaging products".
