Océ adds Document Management Tool 2.2

September 25, 2009:Océ has introduced Document Management Tool 2.2 software, allowing many types of data, including scanned documents, images and applications to be converted to PDF format.

“We see a growing use of the advanced scanning capabilities on MFPs to streamline paper-based workflows, distribute and archive information more cost effectively and improve overall productivity. We also know users want to easily manage these documents, and may need to markup, edit or combine these scans with other documents,” said Thomas O’Neill, Director Product Operations; Quality & Technology Center,Océ North America, Document Printing Systems.

“Océ Document Management Tool 2.2 software enables users to preview documents without opening them, easily manipulate and combine various types of files and connect to multiple devices around the office for easy distributed scanning and printing solutions. With this tool, customers will see increased office performance while maintaining control and security in today’s business environment. We are excited to expand theOcé software line with this new introduction.”

The Océ Document Management Tool 2.2 allows users to gain greater performance and productivity from their office. With the bundled Adobe Acrobat software, it is easy to create, edit and store documents within a PDF workflow. Electronic files can be converted into PDF files and then combined and distributed throughout an organization and opened or printed by any user with Acrobat Reader software.

With the Océ Document Management Tool 2.2 software, users can preview thumbnails of files without opening them, move documents or pages within documents and bind them for grouped transmission. Users can also enhance images, OCR text, attach email files or send and print while distributing data to others.

Key functions of Océ MFPs can be accessed at the desktop. Mailboxes in Océ MFPs can be set up to receive documents, store files or pull files through to a user’s Océ Document Management Tool 2.2 workspace. In addition, Scan-to-Watch folders can be created with filters that correct for skewing, image quality and OCR conversion before they are received and converted to a file.

When saving files, descriptive tags, markers, keywords or individual notes are stored in separate files so other users can open documents in their original form. In addition to working with text, the tool enables users to enhance images by editing and rotating, straightening, removing color backgrounds and more.

With batch printing, linked application sharing, output in multiple formats and automatic data transfer, the software connects to most office devices. In addition, PDF files created by the tool can be directly transferred to another document management or information sharing application for smooth and efficient use of documents as information assets.

When sharing larger files, the tool can automatically set up a simple FTP server from a PC. Users can then post documents to the FTP folder for group access and control with password and log on security.
