Spam Levels Drop 75 Percent as Nefarious ISP Disconnected

November 14 2008: Worldwide spam volumes have undergone a precipitous drop this week, with levels of junk email dropping by a whopping 75 percent following the disconnection of a hosting provider in the US functioning as the nucleus for an army of spam machines.

According to an announcement from IronPort Systems, following the corporation’s disconnection on Tuesday the security firm witnessed spam levels drop by an astounding two thirds. A number of other security firms have also reported severe collapses in spam levels.

The last time such massive decreases were recorded was in September when a similarly dastardly Californian ISP was disconnected, however, as will sadly most likely be the case this time, spam levels bounced back soon after as the spammers regroup and find a new lair.

A short lived victory perhaps, but a victory none the less.
