According to a recent survey conducted on behalf of the digital association Bitkom, an average of 26 emails are received per professional mailbox in Germany every day. Processing them takes up a large part of working time. In addition, emails are an integral part of processes.

With due acknowledgement of the disease’s tragic impact, the COVID-19 outbreak proved a boon for Microsoft Teams. Microsoft Teams users soared from 20 million to 145 million between November 2019 and April 2021.

On March 2, 2021, Microsoft published information about four critical vulnerabilities in its widely used Exchange email server software that are being actively exploited. The United States Department of Justice (DoJ) has filed a lawsuit accusing Google of using “anticompetitive tactics to maintain and extend its monopolies in the markets” for search and advertising. It is the most significant antitrust case since the US government took on Microsoft in 1998 for using its dominant position as the provider of the Windows operating system to force PC makers to bundle its Internet Explorer web browser.
